Machado Therapy and Wellness

Hey there! I’m Darcy Machado, LCSW, CCTP! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social worker and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.

I specialize in offering compassionate evidence based therapy in the phoenix metro and across Arizona.

I focus on working with teens and adults who want to work through PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, attachment wounds, and maladaptive coping or “survival” skills in a collaborative relationship-centered approach.

I use a mix of approaches like EMDR, CBT, DBT to understand past pain points, traumatic event and unhealthy coping skills, or as I like to think of them survival skills.

  • EMDR helps us process trauma, PTSD, and distressing memories

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety, depression, and unhealthy thinking patterns

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness

One of my favorite concepts is the Japanese Kintsugi; the Japanese art of putting broken pottery together with gold or silver. I believe the reason this art form stick with me is that because just like people the once broken, and then repaired pottery becomes more expensive for being broken. By repairing it with precious gold we honor its trial and recognize it’s increased worth. I believe people are the same. Our values comes not from being “perfect” or “unbroken“ but from the journey we take in life and the adversity we overcome.

With me you’ll be getting a collaborative, relationship based approach emphasizing a supportive, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship. I meet you where you are acknowledging your strength struggles, and everything in between while working collaboratively with you to identify where you are I your healing journey and where you want to go.

Together we’ll reframe past pain points, replace unhealthy Coping Strategies with healthy coping skills using evidence based approached tailored to your individual needs to create sustainable change, improved self esteem and healthier relationships.

Ready to Begin? If you’re ready to make a change I offer flexible virtual and in-person sessions in the Phoenix metro and statewide Arizona. Taking the first step in therapy is courageous—congratulations on considering this path. I look forward to supporting your healing process with empathy, expertise, and individualized care.
